Current Price as of 15th June 2009: 104.9p per litre of Diesel!
During 2008, Great Britain saw a huge hike in prices of fuel at the pump as the wholesale price of oil soared. According to the BBC market data, Brent Crude (the yardstick for UK and europe) topped out at over $140 per barrel!
At this point, I wanted to find out the cheapest forecourt in my area and the best way of doing that was to use a website called PetrolPrices.com.
This allowed me to get an almost daily email letting me know of fuel prices in my area. By aggregating the values for one particular forecourt (as all nearby seem to follow suit within a day or so), I came up with the following chart showing the gravity of the price hike. As our main car is Diesel, I have chosen that value to monitor.
The garage forecourt I used was the 'Total' garage on the Ducklington Roundabout in Witney Oxfordshire.
